Stepping Out in Faith

AbrahamHebrews 11:8-9, By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob

There was absolutely nothing clear, comfortable or convenient about Abraham’s call. He had no idea where he was going. He was leaving just about everything he knew and loved behind. He was going to be making a long trek through a hot and dangerous desert!

To be honest with you, when you think about it, it made very little sense at all. I have a feeling there were a few folks that asked Abraham, “What in the world are you thinking?” I am sure his wife, family, and friends would have attested to the “foolishness” of Abraham’s call, especially in the early days of his journey!

When you and I choose to trust and obey God, by heeding His Voice and following the Spirit’s leading, and are willing to “GO” where God sends, we will often find ourselves somewhere we never expected to be, doing something we never expected to do. This is the life of faith!!!

Abraham’s journey with Jesus was a faith filled journey. The story of Abraham is not really the story of a man. It’s the story of God. It is the story of God calling, directing, guiding, providing for, and using one man in a very special way for His eternal purposes. Yet, it all started when Abraham was willing to leave family, friends, future ambitions, and everything familiar to him to follow the leading of God into the unknown!

What is God calling you to do today? Where is God calling you to “GO”? Are you listening? Something and someone is waiting on the other side of your obedience!

Just taking a moment to reflect on Abraham’s willingness to “GO!”God's Leading-1
