For The Gospel’s Sake

For the Gospel“And this I do for the gospel’s sake …” (1 Corinthians 9:23).

The Apostle Paul was an amazing man. A sinful man for sure, but still the same, an amazing man who God used mightily! Paul’s passions in life were to know Christ and to give himself for the cause of Christ, especially to reach out to the “unreached” and “unengaged” peoples of his world in his day. He did what he did, refused to do some things, and sacrificed much (including his life), “for the gospel’s sake.”

Paul lived a life of surrender, sacrifice, suffering and service for the Lord and others “for the gospel’s sake.” Paul was willing to lay aside his “rights,” his desires, and his ambitions “for the gospel’s sake.” Paul was willing to be misunderstood and rejected “for the gospel’s sake.” Paul was willing to go where others had not gone, and where others, no doubt, refused to go “for the gospel’s sake.”

What decisions are we making today simply “for the gospel’s sake”?

  • What are we willing to do “for the gospel’s sake?”
  • What are we willing to surrender “for the gospel’s sake”?
  • What are we willing to sacrifice “for the gospel’s sake”?
  • What are we willing to suffer “for the gospel’s sake?
  • Where are  we willing to GO “for the gospel’s sake?”

Paul was willing to be sacrifice all. He was willing to give up family and friends, to give up his comforts and conveniences, to be misunderstood, criticized, persecuted, imprisoned, and eventually martyred “for the gospel’s sake.” This was his story. This was his life. It was all “for the gospel’s sake.”

What are we willing to do, or give up, for “the gospel’s sake.” What will be the story of our life?

What's Your Story

Just taking a moment to reflect on the words of Paul!!!
