“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving thanks, and he was a Samaritan” (Luke 17:15-16).
While ten men were healed by Jesus, only one (a Samaritan at that) came back to thank Jesus for healing him. The other nine just went on their merry way. I am going to guess they were thankful. Wouldn’t you be thankful after being healed from the dreaded leprosy? I sure would, and I have a feeling you would to. I think they were thankful. They simply didn’t express their gratitude! A common problem many of us have today. At least a common problem that I struggle with. 🙂
God and others have done so much for us, for all of us! Remember the words, “God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good”? We must learn to be grateful; to have an attitude of gratitude. And we need to learn to express our gratitude to God and others. Basically there are four simple ways that we can express to God and others how grateful we are for what they have done for us:
- We can say it –We just need to learn to look them in the eyes and say, “Thank you!”
- We can send it — We can shoot them a quick text or email and just say, “Thank you!”
- We can share it –We can share with others how God has used this individual in your life.
- We can show it –We can express our gratitude for God and others by simply showing it through our lives!
Is there someone in your life today that you need to turn back and give thanks to?
Just reflecting on the red letters of Jesus!!!
