Philippians 3:13-14, Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 43:18-19, Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Habakkuk 2:2-3, And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. We have about three weeks before the New Year.
My wife and I are presently in a “Creative Access” nation. God is blessing in a special way. Great service/session last night. Tag-team preaching/teaching for my wife and me. I preached a message, “If God can use an unknown, unloved, unwanted Samaritan woman, He can use you” (John 4). My wife shared about two single female missionaries that God used in a unique way. God moved in a special way! It was supposed to be ladies only (primarily factory workers), but the men wanted to hear the teaching, or, maybe they just wanted to eat the pizza! 😏
Today, I had a great 2 1/2 hours with the men to wrap up my teaching them. I will preach for them this evening and then off to be with our team sent out of Pacific. I will preach for our team four times, along with teach an additional four hours in their Bible Institute. Koumaly, Darath, T.J., Kam, and Sen are doing a great job!
My wife will be here for a total of seven days. She will be getting back in time for our Christmas play in Phnom Penh. I hate to miss it. Our folks have labored long and hard for this special service. But I will be staying an additional three days to preach and teach for our team sent out of Pacific Baptist Church.
We have about two weeks before 2016 is upon us. If you’ll remember, in my last blog, about a week ago, we talked about the importance of writing things down in preparation for the New Year. I wrote:
As 2015 comes to a close and we get ready to enter the New Year more often than not, the vast majority of us are hoping and praying for a better and more productive year. But a better and more productive year-a year where we get closer to God, our spouse, our children, get more accomplished for God, and for others-for the most part, isn’t going to happen by accident.
We need to prayerfully, purposefully, plan ahead, and we need to pencil it in. In other words, we need to write it down!!!
As we have mentioned in previous posts, as we are praying, planning, and preparing for a New Year we need to have a good idea what we would like to accomplish, what we believe God would have us accomplish. But we must not stop there ….
We need to write it down!
As we approach the New Year ….
- It might not be a bad idea to write down a list of personal goals, both spiritual and physical.
- It might not be a bad idea to jot down a list of goals concerning your marriage and family;
- It might not be a bad idea to put on paper some ministry related goals.
What books would you like to read this year?
Write it down!!!
What about your Bible reading for the year?
Write it down!!!
“Mediocrity is a region bound on the north by compromise, on the south by indecision, on the east by past thinking, and on the west by a lack of vision.”
Just reflecting on the coming New Year!!!
