“Send the Rain” — We Need a Holy Ghost Revival

Rain-2“Wilt thou not revive us again: that Thy people may rejoice in Thee?” (Psalm 85:6)

“That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first and the latter rain”  (Deuteronomy 11:14)

As always, reading through the Book of Acts  the last few days has not only an adventure, it’s been awe-inspiring! When we read about the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 2 and continuing on to read the early exploits of Peter, James, John, and the early church it is inspiring to say the least.

If we continue on and read of Paul’s three missionary journeys we are inspired to do much more for our Lord, especially when it comes to the Great Commission. One thing is certain, that’s for certain, the early Christians and early church had something we so desperately lack today. Their experience was far different from what we see with our eyes and, if we were to be honest, we would have to say different  from what we are experiencing in our personal lives today.

Holy Spirit 1When we read phrases such as, “… wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence” [Acts 1:4-5] “, “But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you …” [Acts 1:8]”, And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost …” [Acts 2:4], “I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh …” [Acts 2:17], “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost …” [Acts 4:8], “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken …”[Acts 4:31], or “And with great power gave the apostles witness … and great grace was upon them all [Acts 4:33],” we are forced to cry out to God to send the rain. Or at least we should be!

The Rochester’s have a song called, “Send the Rain.”  Great song, great truth, and above all a great need in our lives and ministries today.

We’re ready for revival, Lord
We’re ready to walk through that door
We’re ready, Lord, oh, let it pour Rainnnn
We’re ready, Lord
We’re ready, Lord, enough is enough
We’re ready, to drink from your cup
We’re ready, Lord oh, fill us up
We’re ready, Lord.

Send the rain
Send the fire
Send the wind
Send the Holy Ghost in power
Send the rain
Send the fire
Send the wind
Send the Holy Ghost in power
Send the rain

Rain 3O Lord, forgive us for being satisfied with the routine, with our religious games and rituals, and with the status-quo. O Lord, you did something real with our brothers and sisters in Christ 2,000 years ago, O Lord, do it again!

O Lord, send the rain of the Holy Spirit on our dry and parched souls. O Lord, send to us spirit of revival so that our in our lives we might reveal Christ to a dark and dying world and rejoice in Christ and Christ alone!!!

Just reflecting on the drought!!!
