“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15).
Well, ever since my last trip to China in mid-August, between serious Internet issues and my traveling schedule, I have been limited in my ability to post my “Daily Reflections.”
Just concluded the Missions’ Revival at Pacific Baptist Church of Long Beach and Pacific Baptist Church of Monterey Park last night. Great few days with my home and sending church!
Tonight’s the big night. Of course, everyone is talking about it. Some say 100 million people will be watching the presidential debate this evening. There are many who are predicting that America, as we once knew it, is hanging in the balance with this upcoming election. To be honest with you, the America we once knew doesn’t exist, and it hasn’t for quite a while!
I just wanted to take a moment and remind God’s people that the New Testament church, functioned quite well; in fact, they flourished in the midst of the Roman Empire, which was far more corrupt and decrepit than what America is today.
Knowing and understanding this gives us great hope. It means if we will get serious with God about our biblical role and responsibility as a church, and the privilege we have to shine brightly in the midst of darkness, like the early church, we can turn our world upside down.
But we are going to have to get serious. And therein is our problem. For far too long, many, if not most of us, haven’t taken our responsibility serious.
It’s time we do!
Biblically speaking, it really doesn’t matter who ends up in the White House. That isn’t where the answer is to be found. Never has. Never will!
I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but America is not going back to her Judeo-Christian foundation. Nor does it have to for us to love God, serve God, and give ourselves to the work of Christ. And who knows, maybe even turn our world upside down for Jesus!!!
Go ahead, watch the debate. By all means vote. Yet, while you do, put your trust in God and not in any man or woman, or political party!
