Jeremiah 17:5-9, Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. 7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
For the past 18 months or so, Americans have witnessed the most disheartening and discouraging Presidential Primaries and Presidential Election Season ever. At least during my life time! Both major parties nominated candidates, who in my humble opinion, are not worthy or qualified to serve in the White House or the people of this country. Yet, it is what it is!
Today, as American citizens and as Christians, we should PRAY. We should vote. We should encourage others to PRAY and vote. And then we should pray some more for our churches, our children, our communities, and our country. We should pray for revival beginning with our own personal lives [Psalm 85:6].
In addition to the above, a few thoughts to keep in mind:
- Regardless of who wins the Election today, may we remember that it is not GOVERNMENT that we are to place our trust, but it is in GOD that we place our trust!
- Regardless of who wins the Election today, more than likely, and barring a heaven-sent revival, of course, America will most probably continue to slip into darkness and despair. Therefore, we, as the people of the Living God need to stand up, place our faith in God, put our eyes upon Jesus, our hands to the plow, our feet on the straight and narrow way, and shine brightly in the midst of the darkness!
- Regardless of who wins the Election today, even if it is a long and late night, 🙂 we can all rest our head upon a pillow tonight knowing that God is sovereign, He is still on his throne, and His purposes will be fulfilled.
- Regardless of who wins the Election, today may God’s people wake up with a joy in their heart, a peace in their soul, and a renewed vision of Christ and the cause of Christ in the world today!
Matthew 5:13-16, Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Just reflecting on this November 8 Election Day!!!
