decisionsJoshua 24:15,  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Most of us are familiar with the great work that God did through the life and ministry of missionary Hudson Taylor in the country of China. Hudson Taylor was a British Christian missionary to China and founder of the China Inland Mission, which wound up sending more than 800 missionaries, building 125 schools and establishing 300 local churches or “stations.”

The missionary agency, then known as China Inland Mission, which he started in 1865 still exists today, and is still making an impact in many different countries in Asia!

decisions-2Yet, few of us know “the story behind the story.” A few days prior to getting married, Hudson Taylor’s grandfather, at the time, a lost man, heard John Wesley preach a message from Joshua 24:15 (“As for Me and My House, We Will Serve the Lord”) and over the next few days he wrestled with God and a few hours before getting married, Taylor’s grandfather trusted Christ and made the decision to serve Jesus.  That ONE DECISION resulted in nine generations of missionaries!

In 1996, his great, great grandson wrote these words on the 200 year anniversary of “the decision, “One decision to serve God in the 18th century has influenced my family for nine generations. To God be the glory.”

It’s a great reminder that today’s decision determine tomorrow’s destiny and the powerful impact one decision for good and God can have, not only on our life but in the lives of others!

What decision do you need to make today?
