“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, boasters, proud, … Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 TIM 3:1-6).
If you have been a Christian as long as I have, or longer, you have heard over and over about the “Last Days” and the “Signs of the Times.” So much talk about “The Last Days,” and “The Signs of the Times,” and yet, so little acknowledgement of some of the “signs” and symptoms of those very “Last Days” that might be found in our own personal lives, and our own churches!
It is always easier, and to be honest with you, more interesting, :^) to focus on the signs and the symptoms of the “Last Days” in the lives of others, and outside the walls of our church facility, than to humbly acknowledge that we might be suffering from the same symptoms, if not even worse signs and symptoms of the age. As the old song writer penned:
It’s me, it’s me O Lord, standing in the need of prayer. Not my brother, not my sister, not my neighbor, but its me O Lord, standing in the need of prayer!
O Lord, forgive me for focusing on the sins of others, and those outside the four walls of the church, and help me to see the sins in my heart and life. And Lord, help me to not simply have “a form of godliness,” but to seek Your presence and walk in Your power!
