HGV -1Hebrews 3:7-13,   Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8  Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9  When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. 10  Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. 11  So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) 12  Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13  But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

One of the most powerful, and yet, practical passages of scripture can be found in Hebrews 3:7-18; 4:7. Where we find an emphasis on HEARING GOD’S VOICE! It’s really good reminder that when it comes to hearing God, there is no middle-ground. We either allow God’s word to convict, challenge, and change us, or we become, cold, calloused, and carnal by reusing to HEAR HIS VOICE!

I like what one author wrote:

You can’t depend on human traditions, your experience, or the opinions of others to be accurate authorities on God’s will and ways. While these can be helpful, they must always be evaluated in light of the teaching of Scripture. Anything of spiritual significance that happens in your life will be a result of God’s activity in you.

In other words, we need to hear from God and God’s word!

HGV 2Spending time in God’s word, and with God in prayer, and listening to God’s voice,  doesn’t always CHANGE OUR CIRCUMSTANCES, but we can rest assured, it will always CHANGE US (ROM 12:1-2; 2 COR 3:17-18)! Often, that’s why God allows trying CIRCUMSTANCES to come our way. To CHANGE US (ROM 8:28-29)!
