Mark 5:15-20, And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. 17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. 18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
The story of Jesus healing or delivering the maniac of Gadarenes is filled with so many powerful and practical lessons. Yet, I would have to say that the greatest lesson to learn is ….
Having an encounter with the living CHRIST always CHANGES the way we THINK, the way we LIVE, the way we GO, and what we DO. And, we must never think that everyone we know will be happy about the CHANGES (MK 5:1-20)!
Of course, this is true at the point of salvation. Yet, the CHANGES God wants to make in your life and mine do not, or should not, stop when we first get saved. They shouldn’t stop the first few years of our journey with Jesus. Nor should they stop the first few decades of our journey with Jesus.
We should never stop CHANGING this side of eternity. If we do, we have stopped growing and actually have stopped living the life God has called us to live. If we are going to continue to grow, change, and be conformed more into the image of Christ, we have to have daily close encounters with Jesus!
