Trials and Trusting God

Trusting-the-Lord-YHWH2 Corinthians 1:3-9,  Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4  Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 5  For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. 6  And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. 7  And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. 8  For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 9  But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

A casual study of Paul’s life and ministry will reveal that he was a man who suffered much. He was a man who went through many a trial and trouble for the Lord Jesus Christ. It is also very clear – when we read Paul’s words concerning these troubles – that God allowed Paul to go through all that he went through in his life and ministry, first and foremost, to help him to get to the place where he was willing and able to trust God, rather than trust himself or others, regardless of the circumstances and the consequences, Paul chose to trust God, and so should we!

It’s only when we learn trust in God, regardless of our present circumstances or future consequences, that He receives the glory He desires, demands, and deserves!

Jeremiah 17:5-9, Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6  For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. 7  Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. 9  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Proverbs 3:5-6,  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Just Reflecting!
